CHALLENGE TAKT time, identification marking and positional load/unload of pump shafts
ROOT CAUSE The current manual process did not control the location of the part stamping and allowed misloading of hot pump shafts into the shot blast statio
SOLUTION          Evana put an emphasis on a robotic solution that replaced the operator with a Fanuc M-6iB robot. The process consisted of automatically picking the shaft from incoming conveyance, placing it correctly into the marking station and then loading and unloading a shot blast station. The robot also transferred outgoing shafts to the next operation
RESULT The robotic solution corrected shafts from poor or incorrect marking, improved safety by removing the need for an operator to handle hot parts and improved throughput.
